If you own a dog, you know how much attention they need on a daily basis, from wanting to go for a walk and play during the day, or at night when they want to cuddle. And while we love our pets and like them being by our side, this often does not include having them sleep with us. If you been hesitant to let your dog sleep in your bed, I have seven reasons that may convince you otherwise:
- Safety: Dogs can warn you if there is a prowler outside. Because dogs are so alert, having your dog in your bed can allow you to sleep more soundly knowing they are keeping guard.
- Decrease stress levels: Dogs comfort us. They can elevate us if we are depressed and calm us if we are anxious. Having your dog sleep with you can be a great stress reliever.
- Fall asleep faster: Listening to your dog breathe can have a hypnotic effect. Just like the sound of a fan blowing, some people need low background noise to help them fall asleep.
- Loyalty: The more your dog feels loved by you, the more loyal and protective he/she tends to be. Letting your dog sleep with you gives them more love in their daily life.
- Comfort: Even though a dog can sometimes take up a lot of space in your bed, having him/her there is like having a live teddy bear.
- Children: When they are young, children can sometimes develop a habit of not wanting to sleep in their own bed and will come crawling into yours in the middle of the night. Having a dog there taking up the remaining space can encourage children to return to their own bed.
- Waking up: To start the day off right, there is nothing better than waking up and seeing your cute, happy, and enthusiastic dog at your side.
