Industrial vegetable oils are the highly processed oils extracted from canola, corn, cottonseed, grapeseed, peanut, rice bran, safflower, soy, and sunflower. In addition to being nutrient-poor, highly prone to rancidity (oxidation) when heated, and full of toxic solvent residue left behind from the extraction process, the majority of these oils are derived from destructive mono-crop agriculture and genetically modified seeds.
Because these oils are high in pro-inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids, they have been linked to a number of chonic health issues such as:
- Asthma
- Autoimmunity
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Cognitive decline
- Obesity
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease
- Cancer
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Infertility
- Macular degeneration
- Osteoarthritis
The wisest thing you can do is to get rid of these vegetable oils from your home and avoid any food products containing these oils. Replace them with organic coconut oil or cocoa butter for cooking (heating) and organic olive oil or avocado oil for dressings (no heating).
