A key characteristic of memory-destroying Alzheimer’s disease is the build-up of amyloid-beta—a sticky protein that leads to massive death of neurons (brain cells). The blood-brain barrier opens at regular intervals to allow toxins (including amyloid-beta) to exit the brain and enter the bloodstream. The liver then filters the blood and removes these toxins. Scientists believe that helping the liver to remove amyloid-beta from the blood could provide a new way to preventing Alzheimer’s.
What surprised scientists was that the amount of circulating amyloid-beta outside the brain can affect the clearance from inside the brain. In other words, if there is too much amyloid-beta in the blood, that can inhibit removal of it from the brain. The liver influences almost everything in the body, so it is not surprising that by helping our liver, we are in turn helping our brain.
Comments: Liver detoxification consists of two phases: Phase I and Phase II. Both of these phases must work properly for effective detoxification to occur. If either phase is not well executed, it will damage your health. The protocols we use at our office are designed to enhance both phases of detoxification.
