The truth about flu shots

Only about 3% of adults get influenza each year. A recent study showed that vaccines lower the rate to just above 1%. On the surface, that looks like an impressive 67% drop, but here’s how the statistics really stack up: Since 3% of adults get influenza each year, that means that 97% of adults do not. Therefore, these same 97% of adults don’t need any protective benefit from a vaccine. If you apply the 1% drop to the 97% who don’t need the vaccine in the first place, the change in the incidence of influenza goes from 97% to 99%. The net result is a measly 2% drop in the incidence of influenza due to flu shots. That tiny change is statistically insignificant. The authors of this study concluded their study with this important comment: “Evidence for protection in adults aged 65 years or older is lacking.”

If you really want to prevent the flu, eat a diet rich in fresh organic fruit and vegetables, and take 5,000 IU of vitamin D3 daily. Studies continue to show vitamin D is one of the best flu preventives available. And If you get the flu, we have intravenous therapies that can help eliminate it in just one or two sessions. It is really quite remarkable how well this works!
