A recent investigation highlights the potential benefits of a nutritional supplement blend for individuals dealing with persistent symptoms of long COVID. This natural remedy, which includes echinacea, rosehip, zinc, and royal jelly, is shown to possibly alleviate chronic inflammation and overwhelming fatigue, symptoms that plague approximately 17 million adults in the United States who are suffering from long COVID.
The study, published in the journal Pharmaceuticals, focused on 33 individuals who had contracted COVID-19 between one and six months prior to the initiation of the study. These participants, composed of 14 men and 19 women with an average age of 47, were administered the herbal supplement (click here) twice daily over a two-month period, compared to a control group receiving a placebo.
Results from this research indicated a significant reduction in several inflammatory markers, such as C-reactive protein and various immune cell ratios, in those taking the supplement. These findings suggest a notable decrease in the chronic inflammation experienced by the patients.
Additionally, an increase in vitamin D levels was observed in the supplement group, further supporting immune function and reducing inflammation. As the participants reported, these changes contributed to improved overall life quality.
Beyond its immediate application for long COVID sufferers, the supplement’s components each have a history of medicinal use. Echinacea, known for its potential antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects, might also combat COVID-19 directly. Rosehip is recognized for its antioxidant properties and role in treating various health issues, from skin and renal disorders to arthritis and cancer. Royal jelly is valued for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits, while zinc is essential for immune function and cell growth, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation.
The study also proposes that this supplement could aid individuals with autoimmune diseases, where chronic inflammation is a common symptom. The increased vitamin D levels linked to the supplement could also help mitigate fatigue, a frequent symptom in many autoimmune conditions.
This research offers hope not only to long-term COVID patients but also to those suffering from similar chronic inflammatory conditions.
