In a recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, researchers found that, not surprisingly, those with the worst sleep quality and engaging in the least amount of exercise are most at risk of poor health and premature death from heart disease, stroke, and cancer. What was surprising was that those with poor sleep quality, yet engaging in high levels of physical activity, had a lower risk of poor health and premature death. It turns out that low levels of physical activity amplify the ill effects of poor sleep quality, and high levels of activity reduces them.
