The ideal amount of fruits and vegetables to consume

We know that fruits and vegetables are part of a healthy diet and can add years to our lifespan, but how much should we consume? Researchers from Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital answered that question and published their results in the journal Circulation.

The researchers examined the health records of two million adults across every continent and found the ideal amount is 2 servings of fruits and 3 servings of vegetables per day. Sadly, only about 10% of Americans eat this amount. Interestingly, consuming more did not add additional health benefits, however, those that focused on green leafy vegetables enjoyed the greatest health and longevity.
